KP Astrology — Krishnamurti Paddhati System Explained
KP ज्योतिष — कृष्णमूर्ति पद्धति
KP (Krishnamurti Paddhati) Astrology is a modern refinement of Vedic astrology developed by the late Prof. K.S. Krishnamurti. It uses the Placidus house system, sub-lords based on Nakshatras, and a unique approach that many consider more precise for event timing.
Key differences from traditional Vedic astrology:
1. House system: KP uses Placidus houses (unequal house sizes based on birth latitude) instead of the whole-sign system used in traditional Jyotish. This means house cusps are mathematically calculated rather than assumed to be sign boundaries.
2. Sub-lord theory: Each Nakshatra is further divided into 9 sub-divisions, and each sub-division is ruled by a planet. The 'sub-lord' of a house cusp is considered more important than the sign lord for determining results. This is KP's most distinctive feature.
3. Ruling planets: KP uses a system of 'ruling planets' at the moment of analysis — the sign lord, star lord, and sub-lord of the Moon and Ascendant at the time of consultation. These help identify the correct answer in horary questions.
4. Significators: Instead of using only house lords, KP identifies 'significators' — planets connected to specific houses through occupation, star-lordship, and sub-lordship. A planet signifying the 2nd, 6th, 10th, and 11th houses is considered favorable for career and finances.
5. No-ambiguity predictions: KP aims to give clear yes/no answers rather than the often-ambiguous interpretations of traditional astrology. It excels in specific questions: Will I get this job? Will marriage happen this year?
AstroMangal's KP feature: Our Kundli calculator includes a KP tab that generates Placidus house cusps, sub-lords for each cusp, and the Nakshatra subdivision table.
