Name numerology reads your name as a number. Every letter carries a value, those values are added, and the total is reduced to a single digit — your Name number, or Namank.

It is also why the name that counts is the one you are actually called by and that appears on your records, not a formal name nobody uses.
Your Name number is read against the numbers your date of birth fixes — your Mulank (the reduced birth day) and your Bhagyank (the reduced full date). Where the three agree, the tradition holds that the world receives you with less friction. Where they clash, people adjust the spelling to bring them into line, which is the basis of name correction.
Three numbers come from a name, not one. The Expression number uses every letter and describes your talents. The Soul Urge uses only the vowels and describes what you actually want. The Personality number uses only the consonants and describes how strangers read you before you have said anything.
In the Indian method a total of 11, 22 or 33 is reduced like any other — to 2, 4 or 6 — and the compound is read alongside as its own influence. Leaving them unreduced as “master numbers” is a Western convention, not part of this system.
