How name numerology works (Chaldean)
Each letter carries a number. Indian numerology uses the Chaldean system, where letters are valued 1–8 by sound and vibration (the number 9 is treated as sacred and not assigned). Summing your name’s letters and reducing gives your Name number (Namank).
Example: RAVI → R(2)+A(1)+V(6)+I(1) = 10 → 1. A Name number of 1 projects a confident, Sun-like public image.
The Expression number uses all letters, the Soul Urge uses only the vowels (your inner desire), and the Personality number uses only the consonants (how others first read you).
Why the Name number matters — and name correction
Where your date of birth is fixed, your name is not — which is why name numerology is so widely used in India. When the Namank clashes with the Mulank or Bhagyank, people adjust the spelling (an extra letter, a doubled consonant) to bring the vibration into harmony. This is the basis of numerological "name correction".
A harmonised name is said to reduce friction in how the world receives you — in business, on documents, on a brand or shop sign. It is a support, not a substitute for effort or for the birth chart itself.
