Pearl (Moti/मोती) is the gemstone of the Moon — representing the mind, emotions, and mother. Unlike other gemstones which are minerals, Pearl is an organic gem produced by oysters, making it unique among the Navaratna.

Who should wear Pearl: People with weak Moon in their chart (especially if Moon is debilitated, combust, or in the 6th/8th/12th house), Cancer (Karka) ascendant natives, those suffering from anxiety, depression, or emotional instability, and people with strained maternal relationships.

Who should NOT wear: Those with Moon as a malefic (certain Capricorn and Aquarius chart configurations). Pearl is generally a safe gemstone with few contraindications compared to others.

How to wear: Minimum 4-6 carats, set in silver ring, worn on the little finger of the right hand. Energize on a Monday morning during Shukla Paksha. Dip in raw milk and Ganga water before wearing. Chant 'Om Som Somaya Namah' 108 times.

Benefits: Emotional stability, better sleep, improved memory, strengthened relationship with mother, enhanced intuition, protection during travel (especially by water), peaceful mind.

Types: Natural sea pearl (most expensive, ₹10,000-₹1,00,000/carat), freshwater pearl (₹500-₹5,000/carat), cultured pearl. For astrological purposes, natural pearls are preferred. The pearl should be round, lustrous, and free of blemishes.
