Gajakesari Yoga — The Royal Yoga of Jupiter and Moon

गजकेसरी योग — गुरु और चंद्र का राजयोग

ShareSharePost

Gajakesari Yoga is one of the most well-known and auspicious yogas in Vedic astrology. It forms when Jupiter (Guru) is in a Kendra (1st, 4th, 7th, or 10th house) from the Moon. The name means 'elephant-lion' — combining Jupiter's wisdom (elephant) with the Moon's emotional power (lion).

Formation rules: Jupiter must be in the 1st, 4th, 7th, or 10th house from the Moon's position in the birth chart. Both Jupiter and Moon should be strong — not combust, debilitated, or heavily afflicted by malefics.

Effects when strong: The native gains fame, wealth, intelligence, and high social status. They are respected in society, possess excellent speaking abilities, and often achieve positions of authority. Gajakesari Yoga is found in the charts of many successful politicians, business leaders, and scholars.

Strength variations: The yoga is strongest when Jupiter is exalted (Cancer) or in own sign (Sagittarius/Pisces) and the Moon is waxing (Shukla Paksha). It weakens when Jupiter is combust or debilitated, or when the Moon is waning.

Common misconception: Many astrologers claim Gajakesari Yoga in charts where Jupiter is weak or afflicted. A true Gajakesari requires BOTH planets to be reasonably strong. About 25% of people technically have this yoga, but its full results manifest only when the planets are well-placed.

Activation: The yoga activates primarily during Jupiter's and Moon's Dasha/Antardasha periods. Look for professional breakthroughs and social recognition during these times.
