Is eclipse time really good for mantra jaap?
For japa of a mantra you already hold, yes — grahan-kaal japa is traditionally credited with multiplied fruit, and it is one of the few acts encouraged during an eclipse. NEW diksha or first initiation is a different matter and follows the ordinary daylight rules.
Which hour of the day is best for daily jaap?
Brahma-muhurta — the last watch before sunrise — is the unrivalled classical answer. Where life makes that impossible, a fixed hour kept daily outranks a perfect hour kept sometimes.
