How this muhurta is determined
Marriage is the most heavily ruled muhurta in the tradition, and a panchang-level check is the beginning, not the end: a full vivah muhurta also weighs Jupiter's strength for the bride, the couple's combined chart, and the lagna of the phera hour. Use this page to shortlist and eliminate; confirm the final phera time with your purohit or an astrologer with both kundlis.
The blocked windows carry real weight: Chaturmas (Devshayani to Devuthani Ekadashi, roughly July–November), Holashtak (the eight days before Holi), Shraddha Paksha, and Kharmas (the Sun's months in Sagittarius and Pisces — mid-December to mid-January and mid-March to mid-April) are all avoided for the vivah sanskar across most of India.

Treat this as a cross-check of the panchang layer: tithi, nakshatra, blocked windows and both partners' chandrabal. If something disagrees, ask your purohit about it specifically — a good one will welcome the question, and the final phera lagna remains their domain.
Why is Mula in the wedding list when it is feared elsewhere?
Mula is genuinely listed among the classical vivah nakshatras (Muhurta Chintamani includes it), though regional traditions differ on it. If your family avoids Mula, the other ten stars give ample dates.
