Holi is the festival of colors celebrating the victory of good over evil. It commemorates the burning of demoness Holika and the divine love of Radha-Krishna. Celebrated on the full moon day (Purnima) of Phalguna month.

Holika Dahan is performed on the evening before Holi during Pradosh Kaal after sunset. A bonfire is lit symbolizing the destruction of evil. Holika Dahan Muhurat depends on the Bhadra timing — the ritual should NOT be performed during Bhadra.

The next day, Rangwali Holi or Dhulandi, is the main celebration with colors, water, and festive food. Thandai (a milk drink with almonds and spices) and Gujiya (sweet dumplings) are traditional Holi delicacies.

Astrological significance: Holi falls when the Moon is fullest and the Sun transitions toward the spring equinox, symbolizing renewal and new beginnings.
